Bill Carlson brings nearly 35 years of experience to the current woody biomass/renewable energy debate. He recently retired from Wheelabrator Technologies, a major California-based independent power producer.

Herein we present six of Mr. Carlson's more recent PowerPoint presentations in PDF formats (see below). These presentations offer a wealth of insight and analysis for anyone interested in learning more about renewable energy and the enormous energy potential held in our nation's forests.

Mr. Carlson is a member of the Board of Directors of the California Biomass Energy Alliance and 25X25, a member of the Western Governors Association Biomass Task Force and a former member of the Biomass R&D Advisory Committee of the U.S. Departments of Energy and Agriculture.

 He has provided expert witness testimony before Congress numerous times on matters pertaining to biomass economics and energy production. For several years, he was also chairman of USA Biomass Power Producers Alliance, a trade group that represents the interests of the nation's biomass power plant owners and operators.

Mr. Carlson has operated power plants combusting wood, coal, natural gas, municipal solid waste, anthracite waste and tires for utilities, rural electric cooperatives and independent power producers.

He currently owns Carlson Small Power Consultants, a biomass consulting firm with offices in Redding, California and at Black Butte Ranch, Oregon. He is also a consultant to Wellons, Inc., a Vancouver, Washington firm that designs and builds energy systems.

Mr. Carlson holds a degree in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University is a U.S. Army veteran.
