Forest 2 Market, a leading provider of market price and industry trend information for the forest products industry, recently completed a fact-filled analysis of the economic impacts created by privately-owned timberlands in the United States. Among other things, the analysis reveals that every 1,000 acres of privately-held U.S. timberland creates eight jobs with an average payroll of $270 per acre. Unlike federal forest lands, which are no longer managed for any perceivable reason, private lands in the U.S. provide most of the raw material consumed by the nation's lumber and paper industries.
