BREAKING NEWS!

Dear Readers:

I'm in beautiful Seattle, Washington today, not on vacation, but to bring some exciting news to FBN readers. I'm at a press conference held by U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsak announcing the USDA's largest grant in its history--$80 million--split in half for each of Washington State University and the University of Washington. This incredible sum will help the universities overcome key obstacles to developing a viable wood-based aviation biofuels industry in the Pacific Northwest and to develop alternatives to petroleum-based fuels and chemicals as a whole. See our Breaking News section below for complete details.

Forest Business Network is very proud to have signed on as a media partner for WSU's Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance (NARA), which is leading the five-year effort.

To find out more about aviation biofuels in the Northwest, why we need this industry right now, and our role with NARA...

Best wishes,

Craig Rawlings
