Old Smokey's Notes

Les Joslin is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society within the College of Forestry at Oregon State University. He is a former Navy intelligence officer.

Mr. Joslin worked for the U.S. Forest Service for several years in various capacities and was executive director of the Sunriver Nature Center at Sunriver, Oregon from 1995 through 1998. He is currently president of the Deschutes County Historical Society.

Mr. Joslin is currently at work on a book, Early Days on the Deschutes National Forest: 1891-1929.  He also edits OldSmokey's, a quarterly newsletter of the Pacific Northwest Forest Service Association. Click here to read four thought-provoking essays he has written recently in that capacity.
