We have been deluged by responses to Barry Wynsma's thoughtful essay on Forest Service leadership - or the lack thereof. Provided here is some feedback on the essay.
Introduction by Jim Petersen
Rocky Goodnow's North American Sawlog Demand and Residual Chip Supply Outlook report makes for very interesting reading for anyone who wants to know what is happening on the global stage and how it is impacting wood fiber markets in North America.
Mr. Goodnow works for RISI, a leading global forest products information provider based in Boston, Mass., with offices in Atlanta, Charlottesville, Virginia, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon, Brussels, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Singapore.
Mr. Goodnow made this presentation at the recent annual meeting of the Forest Resources Association, a Maryland-based organization that represents the interests of the nation's pulpwood producers. It appears on our website with his permission.
RISI was founded in 1985 as Resource Information Systems, Inc. It was acquired by Paperloop in 2000, and renamed as RISI in 2006. RISI has since acquired the assets of several forestry-related publishing groups including Miller Freeman, C.C. Crow Publications, Jacobs Consultancy and the Lockwood-Post Directories.
