We have been deluged by responses to Barry Wynsma's thoughtful essay on Forest Service leadership - or the lack thereof. Provided here is some feedback on the essay.
Thank You for all of your support of myself and the newsletter. Many of you are aware that I work for the Montana Community Development Corporation (MCDC) here in Missoula, Montana. MCDC is phasing out its Forest Business Consulting program, of which I am the manager, due to a tighter focus on financing and new market tax credit programs for Montana Communities. Therefore, I will be leaving MCDC effective April 1. I have been thrilled with my work at MCDC these last 8-1/2 years and have great respect for the organization and its staff. We accomplished many great things together as a team, and the friendships and positive relationships I've cultivated are priceless. My last major project for MCDC will be the Small Log Conference which will be held March 23-25 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. You can click this link for details.
The forest products industry has been in my blood for several decades, and even though I will no longer work at MCDC, I plan to stay in this industry for many more years to come. I will continue my work as a forest business consultant on my own and focus on building out our website -- TimberBuySell.com -- and this newsletter to be even better resources for supporting the forest products industry. I'll give you news on some exciting new changes to the website and newsletter starting in next week's editor's message, so stay tuned. I hope to see many of you at the conference and I am always an email or phone call away (ccrawlings@gmail.com or 406.240.0300).
Best wishes,
Craig Rawlings
