Timber Continues to Reduce its Environmental Footprint

The U.S. forest products industry continues to reduce its environmental footprint - this according to the 2010 Sustainability Report, published by the American Forest and Paper Association, a Washington, D.C.-based association that represents the interests of the nation’s pulp and paper producers. Among the reports key findings: 63.4 percent of U.S. paper consumed is recovered. Moreover, 65 percent of the energy needed to operate member pulp and paper mills is generated from renewable resources.
