W.V. "Mac" McConnell writes from Florida. He is a U.S. Forest Service retiree whose Power Point presentations have appeared on our website many times. His latest efforts are nearby: an updated version of his earlier "Timber Resource Management" Power Point and a fascinating photograph, "One Landscape: Four Views," that shows what is happening on adjacent public and private forests at Deep Creek, near Townsend, Montana.

The Truth About America's Forests

Since the late 1980s, the non-profit Evergreen Foundation has periodically published a report titled "The Truth about America's Forests". The first issue proved so popular that we updated it two years later. In all, seven editions have been published and more than one million copies of the report were distributed free. Our readers tell us there are two reasons they value the report. First and foremost, all of the information presented comes from publicly-funded sources. Second, the report has always featured lots of easy to understand graphs and charts. In this section of our website, we plan to post two updated charts with narrative very month. Be sure to share these copyrighted charts and graphs with friends and colleagues. They are for your educational use.

"We must always consider the environment and people together, as though they are one, because the
human need to use natural resources is fundamental to our continued presence on earth."
