2022 NACo Legislative Conference

Jim Petersen recently spoke at the NACo 2022 Legislative Conference - his message was on the untapped capacity of counties in the west to address wildfire risk and how Evergreen can assist in that process.

He highlighted an Evergreen Project in Montana.

See page 12 for the 3 interim adopted resolutions pertaining to PUBLIC LANDS:

• INTERIM RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LONG-TERM FEDERAL FUNDING FOR SHARED STEWARDSHIP TO COLLABORATIVELY MANAGE UNWANTED WILDFIRE
• INTERIM RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RECONCILIATION IN PLACE NAMES ACT AND SECRETARIAL ORDERS 3404 AND 3405
• INTERIM RESOLUTION SUPPORTING WILDFIRE MITIGATION EFFORTS ON U.S. FOREST SERVICE LAND UNDER THE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT - This is the only resolution that failed - which demands immediate wildfire suppression. It was tabled for further discussion and will potentially come up in a different form at the July conference. Contact your county commissioners if you are concerned about the passing of this resolution.
