Dear Friends of Evergreen,
Evergreen is placing a portion of our content behind a paywall.
We have delayed this action as long as possible, but it is time to determine if the extensive content that Jim Petersen has compiled (for over 40 years) and continues to generate - holds value for our readers - beyond a pat on the back.
As the Resource Director of our beloved Evergreen, I’ve been wandering through our metaphorical forest of readership. To my dismay, I find that most of our readers and vocal supporters are not donating to the ongoing work we do.
Our statistics show that almost 80% of our readers open our emails, read, and share our content—an impressive figure in any nonprofit work.
Since the recent launch of a more user-friendly website - we have been inviting readers to subscribe. To date, 36 readers out of that 80% have contributed to Evergreen through a subscription.
We are delighted to have such a passionate and devoted readership. However, we are at critical mass. While our reader base is a mighty forest, our donation levels resemble new growth struggling to emerge after a Mega-fire.
Running a nonprofit dedicated to forestry education and conservation is challenging and very expensive.
We need your help to keep our educational programs, conservation projects, and forest management efforts thriving.
Without your support, our ability to share vital information will cease to be sustainable.
